This sculpture is called “Recycled Deer.” It’s a creation by Albert Belleveau’s of Puposky, MN. You can see it on the south side of Lake Nokomis. I was confused by the title because it has a single horn, making it either a unicorn or a rhinoceros, with the former being more likely. I found an older photo online and that version had deer antlers. So, “Recycled Deer” it remains.
The House of Balls truck looks better all the time. I remember, yikes, 20 years ago when Allen Christian had his gallery in the 24 Building (also home of the 24 Bar, but that’s another story). Even then there was a box outside the building where you could record a message. My friend Amy was very creeped out and left a message something along the lines of, “WHAT IS THIS PLACE?!?!” He called her back to explain that, well, it was just a gallery.
